Occupation: Service Delivery – Telstra
What’s your story? How did your first start living an active life?
Tell us a little about your first 1/2 marathon (21.1km)?
I decided late last year when planning my goals for 2013 that I was going to run a half marathon this year with a goal of finishing in under 2 hours.
I chose the Gold Coast Marathon – if I was going to run 21.1km’s why not run it at an amazing location!
I followed Run With Life’s 12 Week training plan which saw me running no more than 3 times a week and balancing it with regular weight/cross training sessions and nutrition.
I ended up finishing in 1 hour 52 mins which I was absolutely stoked with and came out of it with more of a love for running than ever!
How do you stay motivated?
What would we find in your shopping basket every week?
Plenty of fresh veggies, frozen organic berries, brown rice, lean protein, mainly chicken but I love red meat, especially steak and lamb fillets, chobani yogurt, spices and stock to add flavour to my meals.
What is your favourite exercise?
Running! Long runs are my favourite.
What is your fitness philosophy?
For me, the right balance of correct nutrition, resistance exercise and running has brought me to the fittest and happiest I’ve ever been – I’ve been taught this by my sister and trainer and it is definitely true.
1. Sweet or savory?
2. Music or Reading?
Reading – although don’t get much of a chance to read much these days, something to work on
3. AM or PM workout?
4. Your favourite movie
5. In my gym bag….
Headphones, weight gloves, running gloves, running watch, protein shaker, training diary
My next goal is…
To run the half marathon at the Melbourne Marathon Festival in as close to 1 hour 45 mins as possible! My sister and I have also booked in a photo shoot for early November so working on looking my best for that.
You can see more of Bec on her blog “Fit Healthy Awesome“, or find her over at the Run With Life website or facebook page
On the (weights) bench with… is a fortnightly feature featuring fit, fun & fearless females.
