Enrolled – Cert III and IV in Fitness
*Sorry for the break in programming. I’ve had a super couple busy days at work and we also had our power (and water) cut off for 12 hours thanks to a Darwin-Katherine blackout. “Programming is now returned to normal”. ;)
So I’ve enrolled in my Certificates III and IV in Fitness online through the Australian Institute of Fitness, which upon completion will enable me to instruct group fitness classes or become a Personal Trainer. They give you an estimation of 28 weeks to complete Cert III and 24 weeks for Cert IV. Although being able to work at your own pace is pretty awesome too!
So far, after starting in January I’ve been working at what feels like a slow pace. Their modules have estimated completion dates/guidelines and because my work colleagues and I started about a month after the first module guidelines, it’s felt like I’ve been behind from the beginning.
After a stellar couple of weeks, I’ve almost ‘caught up’. Over the next couple of weeks I really need to stick to my ‘to-do’ list each day and get my study done perhaps before everything else to ensure it gets completed.
So far I’ve really been enjoying it. After working as a Marketing Manager for a club for the past 9 months and casually on reception/sales I felt like I ‘knew’ most the content at the start – general club safety, communication methods, etc. But to me, it also reiterates that I love this industry! Working in the health and fitness industry is so rewarding; coming across people each day who want to make a difference to their lives it is so positive and uplifting and has only improved my own outlook in life!
This study I’m hoping will give me a competitive advantage when I move back to Melbourne later this year when looking for work in the industry. I have a communications/marketing/product based background and finding a communications/brand or marketing role for an apparel brand is my dream job. I have a few brands in mind too. ;)
Anyway, first things first, back to the books! ;)
Are you studying at the moment? What’s your ‘day’ job? What are your career aspirations?
