Fitness Update: My plans for 2015
My ultimate goal this year is to get fitter! The last couple of years I’ve gone from starting CrossFit in 2012, and then running a half marathon in June 2012, followed by competing in not one, but two INBA Fitness Model competitions (Sept 2012 and May 2013).
Right now, after spending January – July last year ‘getting back into’ CrossFit and building my strength up again, it all dropped off again and I lost most of my cardiovascular fitness after travelling Europe for three months (and not exercising properly for around 4 in total).
Upon returning to training in November (when I got back to Melbourne) I got straight back into the gym lifting heavy weights (thanks to my trainer from Darwin, Marnie), and eating really well. The key there was eating really well. You know the drill, just a balanced of complex carbs, higher protein and moderate fat. Within a month I’d dropped 3.5kg and cm’s off my body!
When it came around to mid-December, my month gym membership ran up and I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get back into CrossFit. It renewed my love of keeping fit and healthy, and honestly, that first WOD back – you couldn’t wipe the smile off my face!
Hence, my goals for this year. The other week I blogged about my overall 2015 goals, and listed these as my fitness ones for the year:
- 22 February – River Run Geelong (10km)
- 22 March – Run 4 the kids (15km)
- 12 April – Geelong 1/2 marathon (21km)
- 03 May – Nail Can Hill run (11.3km)
- 26 July – Run Melbourne (10km)
- 20 September – Sydney Running Festival half marathon (21km)
- 24 October – Tallangatta half marathon (21km)
