Week 11 Half Marathon Training:
As I’m writing this, there is only two more sleeps till my second ever half marathon. Week 11 was last week and a little bit of a quieter week in terms of training (thanks to the terrible weather!), I got in two Crossfit WODs and two runs.
My first run of the week was a 10km run around Albert Park lake on my lunch break at work, I managed to squeeze in the 10km using my interval training workout on my Garmin and felt pretty good and thankfully the weather held up! My garmin makes it SUPER easy to program in workouts using the Garmin Connect program online and simply sync them to my watch!
My final LONG RUN was on Sunday morning, boy what a morning did I pick to get out early and get running! At 9am it wasn’t even a degree yet, and by the time I’d finished it said on my iphone it was around 7.5 degrees! EEP! However, my run was a good one and under instructions from my new ‘official’ running coach, Brad George – I had to run for 2hrs, and to keep my heart rate under 175bpm. With my alarm on my watch set, I set off and it was cold, but it was sunny at least! I felt good during the run and managed to squeeze out 18km in the 2 hours.
When I downloaded my data from the week, I decided to compare some of my other previous long runs and was pleasantly surprised at my lowered heart rate :)
How is your training going at the moment?
