The start of the year generally brings a sense of calm, renewal and opportunity – and if you’re anything like me, its an opportunity to set some time aside and write down your goals and plans for the new year.
I love opening a fresh diary and writing in my loved one’s birthday’s, special events and fun runs or fitness events I plan on doing for the year. It’s a ritual for me and I love it.
There’s something to be said about writing down your goals, remember the saying, “Keep them Smart”? Writing your goals down helps you think about your goals further, and perhaps break them down, alter them even to better suit your year. A diary is great to keep a track of your goals – keeping them front and center in your handbag or work desk everyday. Otherwise – popping them on a calendar or on a piece of paper in your wallet may be better suited to you.
When it comes to tracking your exercise, health and wellbeing there are plenty of iphone apps out there to help you keep on track (my fitness pal for example). However nothing is more accountable than writing something down on paper in a notebook, journal or daily or weekly diary. Along with this, a journal will help you gather your thoughts from the day, your hopes, dreams and wishes.
