Last month I was lucky enough to get to go to NTC Live Melbourne, which was a part of the NTC Live Global Tour. I joined 500 women in Melbourne (and other 500 in Auckland, and 2,500 in Sydney). The event was held at Margaret Court Arena, with sessions taking place in Margaret Court itself, and outside. While the weather wasn’t 100%, it was a fantastic vibe sharing an awesome workout experience with 499 other amazing women!
You’ve only got to look around to see why “fitness is the new festival“. With the likes of Lululemon’s Wunderlust a long running yoga, health and wellness event, as well as Kayla Itsine’s (and other insta-fitness celebs) promoting tours, pop up events and large group workouts – it’s little wonder that Nike is jumping on the bandwagon too!
A couple of days before the event I managed to catch a cold – and knew a day of exercise (a day before Run 4 the Kids) with a blocked nose was not going to be fun, BUT there was no way I was missing out! Heck, I’d already been sent a cool singlet to wear on the day! Anyway, I met up with girlfriend from work the morning of, and we were blown away with the whole day. Nike had kitted out the arena with Nike signage, wall decals and pop-up booths for women to treat themselves! Think rub-on tattoo and braid stations, free massages, a chill out area, free Voss water and more!
I was super lucky enough to meet up with two [instagram] friends, Aimee and Lou who are just as beautiful, bubby and positively infectious as they are on screen. How the day worked was when you registered you chose from one of three workouts – Hiit/Run, Hiit/Pilates or Run/Hiit – or something to that affect. We were put into groups for the day so we had the same workout group (albeit a large one of around 160 odd!)
I had a great day in Group B (I think). As one, we completed a HIIT warmup (that was more like a full on workout!) lead LIVE from Sydney via the big screen with Nike NTC Global Trainer Marie Purvis and Nike Master Trainer Kirsty Godso. The group I was in then had a HIIT workout with Claire Cuttler, Nike NTC Trainer. Her energy was intense, and I burpeed and jumped my way through a sweaty session!
I was thankful for a rest, before jumping into a run with the Nike Run Club and then another Hiit workout! At the end of the whole day I’d worked out for around 2 hours and burnt 891 calories!
During the day I chilled out in the chill out zone and watched a bit of a Nike episode of Margot Vs Lily , of course I got my hair braided and got a tattoo – and totally got a picture in front of the selfie wall!
If you missed out this year, check out next year’s event for sure – and in the meantime there is the Nike Women Victory Tour (Nike+ Run Club Women’s Half Marathon) in Sydney in July. It looks fantastic, and already have a bunch of friends going – unfortunately its a super busy time of year at work for me so I have to miss out!
